History of Cross Cheer:
Cross Cheer was founded in 2005, by Brittany Cavender, with the mission of introducing young girls to the sport of cheerleading in a Christ-centered atmosphere. A former SMU Cheerleader, NCA Instructor, Cheer Athletics athlete and Rockwall High School captain, Brittany distinctly remembers those coaches throughout her cheering career who impacted her life for Christ. She was blessed to have coaches who provided sweet encouragement, built confidence and used Bible verses to motivate and inspire.
In her senior year at Southern Methodist University, while taking an entrepreneurship class, Brittany realized her dream was to combine her love for children, cheerleading and God into a Christian cheerleading company. Soon after developing a business plan and consulting many friends and talented professionals, her dream became a reality. In the summer of 2005, Cross Cheer was established as an LLC and hosted its first Christian cheerleading camp with Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas on September 17.
18 years later, Cross Cheer has been blessed to partner with over 30 churches in Austin and Dallas, host over 8,000 campers through the years and help launch an All-Star Cheer program in Richardson, TX.

Cross Cheer is committed to providing a fun, safe environment where young girls are taught the fundamentals of cheerleading (motions, cheers, dance, stunts, tumbling & jumps) in a Christ-centered atmosphere and are encouraged spiritually by our Christian coaching staff.

Owner & Camp Director
Brittany Cavender
Brittany has been in the cheerleading industry for over 20 years with her most notable experiences being an SMU Mustangs cheerleader, NCA Instructor, TCA coach and Cheer Athletics nationally ranked athlete. Brittany has owned and operated Cross Cheer for over 15 years and enjoys the opportunity to reach little hearts for Christ in the Dallas area through cheerleading. In addition to Cross Cheer, Brittany enjoys being a wife (husband Kyle), mom to Bo, Kinsley & JP and attending Grace Community Church in Lindale, TX.
Camp Manager & Head Coach
Lauren Williams
Lauren is a current 8th grade Language Arts teacher in Frisco ISD. She is a former Varsity cheerleader and was involved in the Tumbling and Stunt team at Asbury University. She completed 13 years of middle school cheer coaching. Lauren now attends church at Hope Fellowship in Prosper. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, and is very excited to continue her Cross Cheer journey spreading the love of Jesus to young girls!
Head Coach
Avery Durham
Avery currently attends the University of Oklahoma where she is working towards her Bachelor's in Science Education. She has cheered for a total of 12 years. Avery cheered competitively at Pro Spirit and at Lovejoy High School. At the University of Oklahoma, she attends Wildwood Community Church. Avery loves being involved in Cross Cheer. She has a heart for Jesus and children, and she cannot wait to share her passion with the girls through Cross Cheer!

Chloe Garcia
Chloe is currently finishing up school to become a real estate agent. She has cheered for 15 years both all star and sideline! She cheered at Cheer Athletics for 11 years where she was on the worlds team Fiercekatz, and on the varsity cheer squad at Sachse High School. She can’t wait to share her love of Jesus and passion for cheer!
Head Coach
Grace Hejl
Grace is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing at Dallas Baptist University. With 14 years of experience in cheerleading, she continues to pursue her passion as a member of DBU's Cheer and Stunt team. Previously, Grace served as the Varsity Captain during her senior year at Caldwell High School and competitively at Thunder Elite in College Station, Texas. She is deeply committed to the vision of Cross Cheer, feeling called to impart her love for Jesus and cheerleading to children.
Head Coach
Kaitlynn Gradt
Kaitlynn attends Dallas Baptist University where she cheers on the DBU cheer team. She is a part of the Health Science program and sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa. Kaitlynn has been cheering over the past 15 years competitively and on the sidelines. In addition to coaching at Cross Cheer, she also is a head coach at Legacy Cheer. She loves nothing more than getting to serve and glorify God with the talents He gave her!
